One of the main ways I would like to use Live Mesh is to sync my Windows Desktop on my primary machine to a folder that can be accessed via the Live Desktop by all my other computers. Like many Windows users I use my Windows desktop to organize and access the activities that are most central to my current daily routine. Being able to ensure ready file access to all of these files via the Live Desktop from among my different computers should be one of the primary abilities of this platform.
And yes, I understand that I can get access to my Windows Desktop(s) remotely via Remote Desktop, but this is a much slower and plodding way to satisfy that need.
It appears that the inability to add the Windows Desktop folder to the Live Desktop is a design decision, rather than something inherently undoable? Why?
We currently disallow making the Windows Desktop a Live Mesh Folder because the Desktop is currently the default location for Live Mesh Folders to be synchronized when done so remotely (ie. synchronize this folder on that machine), and there's no way to change this default today. We've gotten feedback that some people would like this capability so we may allow this in the future (and probably also allow changing the default sync'ing location). Feel free to add this to the Wish List!
