  • Hello chuckvis,

Unlike Windows XP, Windows Vista can be installed without entering a Product Key. We call this a Keyless install.   When a Keyless install is done, Vista uses it's own default Product Key. This Default Product key allows a user to use Vista for 30 days before having to enter a Valid Product key.

Currently, your Vista is using the Default Home Premium Product Key.

To continue using Vista, please change out the Default Product Key for the Valid Vista Home Premium Product Key that came in your Retail Vista box.

You can do this by clicking the Start button and then Right-clicking Computer and select Properties. In the Windows that appears, scroll to the bottom left and click "Change Product Key"

    Thank you,

    Darin Smith
