IFD - idle/inactivity timeout (Sliding Sessions) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We've got IFD configured but the user experience is less than satisfactory due to the regular need to re-authenticate.

I know that I can increase the token life time for the relying party in ADFS so that the users are not regularly asked to reauthenticate but this is a bit of a security risk.

This is exacerbated by the fact that our system is available to third parties, so we have no control over their policies, which means that an idle/inactivity time out is a must.

I am aware that this can be done in WIF, so called sliding sessions, but it is possible in Dynamics CRM 2013/15.

So, is it possible to configure an idle/inactivity timeout for Dynamics CRM 2013/15?

  • I guess I'll answer my own question.

Microsoft have confirmed that this is not currently possible as sliding sessions are not supported natively by WIF.

Do note that if you have a custom application then it would be possible to do this, see this Sliding sessions
