Fix it Center does not load RRS feed

  • Question

  • Fix it Center starts to load from the desktop icon but then stops and a popup windows says that it has encountered an unexpected error and must end.   Error Code - 16977921--2147023843.

I have removed the Fix it Center via the removal application in the Control Panel, shut down the computer and then restarted.  I down loaded the Fix it Center again.  Try to start it and got the same error.  This was not in Safe Mode.

  • I am on the internet.

However, I figured out what the problem was.  I read through a number of other threads and it looked like the file MSXML 6.0 should have loaded when I downloaded SP3.  For some reason it did not.  I downloaded MSXML 6.0 Parser and the Fix It Center runs as expected.  Now I wonder what else didn't load with SP3.

I have decided to do a complete clean back to a bare hard drive and fresh start.  I am gathering all programs information so I can reload after I load Windows XP fresh.  Now I wonder if I will have to reload SP1 and SP2 before loading SP3.  Should be interesting.

    Thanks for your time

  • Dear Customer,

May I ask if you have encountered or seen any error message during the installation of the application?

Also, after that error pops up, is there any additional error message shown on Fix It Center?

  • Dear Coco Ma,

No problem or error message during download and installation.  Only when I try and run it.

It looks like the "dashboard" or entry screen starts to display when the first error message pops up.  It says"Microsoft Fit it Center has encountered an unexpected error, please try again.  I click "OK" and the error message disappears and the entry screen re-starts loading saying is is "Gathering Information about your computer".  The moving green bar runs and then another error window pops up.  It says" Unable to download troubleshooter, please check your internet connection."  I click "OK" and it and the entry screen disappear.  I then check my internet connection via the "Internet Connection Status" pop up and it say I am connected.  The browser continues to operate normally.
