MapPoint Overlapping Territories RRS feed

  • Question

  • I see this question asked a few times , but no answer. I have MapPoint 2010 through work and we use it to Map our coverage areas. Some territories overlap, but when I try to import them. The territories won't allow two different territories to have the same zip code in it. This seems very odd as I can't imagine this is uncommon. Is there a fix for this. I was hoping the overlapping area would come up shaded or something.

  • MapPoint does not support overlapping territories.  Territories also need to be whole areas of the underlying geography (eg. zipcodes).

Considering MapPoint has been discontinued for a couple of years now, you probably want to look at an alternative. We're recommending Caliper's Maptitude for most of our products. This has much more powerful territory support and even has a MapPoint import option.
