Changing type of attribute? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

I have a custom entity with custom fields. Now my customer wants to change the type of an attribute from number to nvarchar, after having used it for more than a year. The problem is that changing of datatype can not be done, and I have to create a new attribute with data type nvarchar. If I do that, and delete the other one, then I will miss all data that was registered on that particular field.

Any ideas about what is best practice in cases like this, and how I could somehow export the data from one attribute to another?

    Regards

  • Hi.

Simplest way is to use T-SQL. But it unsupported.

Also you can create an application which will retrieve and update data using supported web services.
