My Office 2007 Product Key is not Valid when I try to upgrade to 2010.

Question
-
Recently, I just purchased a brand new Office 2007 Home and Student version for Singapore $228 from a retailer a PC SHOW on the 10th of June. This means that I am entitled to an upgrade to Office 2010 Home and student version. However, I have not been able to install the Office 2010 upgrade as the installer claims that "This is not a Valid Office Product. See above examples to learn more."
This problem also happened when I tried key in the same product key to upgrade the Office 2007 TRIAL. But I was able to fix this problem by reinstalling the Office 2007 from the DVD provided.
I have validated my Office 2007 and I assume that the product that I have purchased is original. However, I find it odd that my product key is "not a valid office product".Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

Hello ConfusedCustomer101,
I would suggest returning for a refund the Office Home and Student 2007 product purchased from the "a retailer a PC SHOW on the 10th of June."
If this product only originally activated only by using the supplied installation discs, and the product key has been rejected twice by the Microsoft system (first when you originally installed Office H&S 2007 and second when you tried to take advantage of the upgrade to Office 2010), then that casts serious doubt on the validity and genuineness of the Office H&S 2007 product.
Then purchase a Genuine full retail packaged product of the Office edition of your choice from a major local retailer, or directly from Microsoft online. Note that Microsoft thru its partner Digital River is the ONLY legitimate place to purchase a downloaded copy of Office or Windows.

Hello ConfusedCustomer101,
"Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 - 100 Genuine"
Your Office 2007 shows as Genuine.
As Dan posted, the error message you see says "This is not a Valid Office Product. See above examples to learn more" can you tell us what the "Above" says or shows?
Thank you,
Darin MSFriday, June 18, 2010 9:38 PM -
Hi Dan and Darin,
THanks for the swift reply.
The above examples refers to a link "Learn more about product keys and see examples".
In this link, it shows me where the Product keys are located if "I purchased Office from a retailer (on disc),
I purchased an Office Product Key Card, I purchased and downloaded office online, I purchased a new computer with office preloaded and my company installed office on my computer".
Since I purchased my disc from a retailer, I am provided with no further information as it shows me where my 25-character product key is located. My product key is located on the plastic cd-holder and is clearly visible when I open the OFFICE 2007 DVD Holder.

You stated "purchased a brand new Office 2007 Home and Student version for Singapore $228 from a retailer a PC SHOW".
I regret to inform you that vendors selling merchandise at computer shows are classified as "resellers" and not "retailers".

I am having the same problem - I purchased office 2007 in June from Best Buy a well known US Retailer. However I am receiving the error "This is not a valid Office Product Key. See above examples to learn more."
I will not be able to return this to the retailer as I am outside of their return window. Please let me know how to proceed.
