TTS with female voice? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

We normaly use recorded audiofiles but if a file is missing, we use TTS until we have created a file.

Is it possible to change voice from male to female? Am using English (United Kingdom) and according to the documentation there should be a voice "Emily" but I don't know how to change the settings...

    Thanks for your help,

    Markus

  • Take a look at the ModifyingLanguage sample application; it shows how to select the language and gender at runtime using ISynthesizer.DefaultVoice and InstalledVoices.

  • Hi!

I have to create a web appln that converts text to speech. Am using SAPI 5.

The problem is that i need a voice with an Indian accent.

The default- Mary, Mike and Sam are not at all clear.

Here, you have mentioned "modifying language sample app"..where is it?

    Please help.

  • The mentioned sample application pertains to Microsoft Speech Server and not SAPI, sorry.

You will also need a voice that has the attributes you require to get TTS rendered using it.
