  • Unfortunately, there is nothing we can suggest other than to contact Acer Support and obtain their own Windows recovery media which does not require you to type in the 25-character product key.

  • You need to reinstall using teh manufacturer's Recovery media - or their Recovery partition.

    Check your manual for details.

  • Please post an MGADiag report.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
     Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
      - **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

  • That looks OK now - you need to install all the updates, including SP1 and an up-to-date Anti-Virus (after removing the 'free' preinstalled one, and running the AV manufacturer's removal tool).

  • What's wrong with using Acer's Key? - it's a perfectly valid one.

  • Acer Keys can ONLY be used on Acer laptops with the proper BIOS SLIC tables.

The Key is irrelevant to any other use except activation.

It's not worth the hassle, honestly!

  • Be patient and contact with the Acer support and let them know. Actually Acer allows keys to the Acer laptops. Try if they fix it. Or you have to look some alternative way.
