Page Numbering

Question
-
Return original page numbering to show 5 pages and also last page. Clicking on the page should bring to the top of the clicked page, not to the bottom.

Right now there is only "Next" and "Previous" on the Navigation bar. This is very unproductive. No one wants to click "Next" 18 times to get to the last page of an 18 page forum. And no one wants to click "Next" 18 times to get to page 18 of a 30 page forum.
Also it would not hurt to replicate the Navigation bar at the top of each page as well as the bottom.

I agree!!! This is so unproductive having only Prev / Next buttons, with no way to skip directly from Page 1 to Page 5 (or whatever). Please, put this back to how it was before!!!

An (ugly) workaround, born out of necessity (!), is to change the resp. page number in the address bar (...=true&page=2). It might be kinda Stoneage, but at least it emulates a bit of the old functionality.

This is altogether against the laws of Human Computer Interaction (HCI).
I think there must be the pagination at the top and the bottom and minimum 5 records must be shown to the user,
and for easy access the pagination should be as in the following
First 1 2 3 4 . . . Last

Take a look at the Answers forums (aka Microsoft Community), e.g.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/feedback/forum
You will see Previous, Next, Number of pages, and a (slightly non-obvious) box where you can enter the page number you want to go to.
This is only at the bottom of the page, though, not at the top.

I fully agree, and further, I find it most annoying that when you change page via the control, then it doesn't jump to the top of the selected page and remains at the bottom, meaning that you have to scroll all the way up to continue from where you left off.
