@Fredrik, about the question on how to earn points or tips to earn points , i am sorry to say that you have joined the contest too late m8. There are few possibilities left now. But you can still try in the forums and quiz. And just wait for the results.
We guys still have a hope, may be the admins iwll reduce the 10K barrier to something even lesser, cause at the end of the contest there will be only afew who would cross the 10K point boundary. and the admins have planned to give 500 prizes, may be they have already invested in th prizes, so they would want to distribute their prizes -
But still, how can we cross the barrier?? If you want to play genuine, its too hard.. or else there are other ways... like uploading lots n lots of whitepapers, virtually ratting all the whitepapers, downloading papers.. than flooding the forums with useless threads and posts.. marking only your own posts.. Then trying to cheat in the Quiz to get points, and there are many more like this....
So watz the use??? I think even if by doing so, if we become a Microsoft Student Partner, Do we deserve to be there, or let me put it this way, are we capable of being there... As a student partner there are many expectations but failing to show that we are just making a fool out of us and our country....
I didnt knew about this contest before.. a friend told me about this.. I came late in the contest, so i hardly plan to win it.. but i saw a great amount of learning here, and all because of some of the genuine people here who make you feel great... like the one running this thread
So its not about just winning, its about learning, I dont care about winning as what we will get is just a bonus, the real prize is the knowledge we get and the reputation we build among the fellow members....
So stop worrying about the points.. its not a big deal... -

I also feel that the main benefit that we get from this forum is the knowledge and FRIENDS. I have already found some good friends here, one of them is you .
Even i agree with you that, just for the sake of winning the contest ; if we win, then we will not be able to stand out the expectations that the others and even microsoft has on us.
Just be loyal, and you will know with time that you are right, and you have earned more than what the winners have acheived
I have learned this lesson by my own mistake after getting caught for misusing the referrals, all my points are now lost for the referrals, and now i only have the genuine points that i worked hard and earned.
Earlier i was feeling that i am in rank 1, but didn't have much satisfaction, but now even though i am not in rank 1, i feel much much more satisfied. -
Thatz rite buddy... Be loyal to urself and you will get more satisfaction than anything else in life

Man its not a problem that you joined the contest too late. You still can get to learn a lot, and there are people who will stay here even after the contest. Apart from Varun, i will also be here
This contest is more about learning than earning points. Thats why MS has given us lesser opportunities to earn points and more opportunities to share and learn new things -

I agree with you Yogesh, and i have proved your words true. I have been in this contest since the start, and i have been working hard every month, and i got 1000 points for quiz and also 1000 points for forums every month. And see the result, i have crossed the 10K barrier ..
You can also do it Yogesh, i guess you are not far from the bareer. But more important is learning, and thats what we are doing here. Prize is just a bonus. If we work hard and learn things from here, it may be helpful in future and distinguish ourselves from the other common guys who are giving interview. We may then earn more, and then afford to buy the xbox360, windows phone, and pendrives ourselves -
@Varun - You are making a small mistake in counting, let me correct you my friend.
Till now only Me, you Yogesh, and akshat have said they scored 1000 points for forums, so that makes 6 left
Yogesh already said that he had scored 1000 points earlier. I think you are counting him twice.
Also one more think i feel is that you are also being misguided by Ranks of the members shown in the forums that is the "Answers" page. That has got nothing to do with the overall ranks. DIfferent forums got different rank pages, if you go to the msdn forum, it will show ranks of the persons in that forum. While this contest is just not working in Samvaad, we can work in msdn, and many many other forums of Microsoft, the points will be calculated
The admins dont want us just to communicate with indians in samvaad, we should also communicate and learn and share our knowledge outside samvaad -
@Varun - During the start of the contest when i was new here, i was roaming here and there between different forums, and trynig to learn and share my knowledge. I dont remember which all places i have been to cause i have been in many of them randomly, but I remember being in the MSDN forums you can check it out there, its really good for learning lot of new things, infact better than samvaad There are lot of MVP's there too who will guide you and help you
