3TB ST33000651AS in a WHS RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI

I got a 3TB ST33000651AS install in one of my bay.

I have set-up INTEL'S RST 10.8.00 in my WHS ( itis not the 2011), because I could only see 749 Gb out of the 3Tb on the drive.

Now I can see a 2048 Gb parttiuon and an unusable 746 Gb partition as well.

Is there a solution so I can see a full 3TB drive on this ?

  • No.

In Windows Home Server V1 (released in 2007) it will only let you get to the first 2 TB, period. In Windows Home Server 2011 (released last year) it should allow you to get to all the space on the drive, however it will partition the drive as one (or more) 2 TB partitions, and an additional partition of less than 2 TB.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • HI...

Is ther3e not a tool that can fix this ?

Actually thge WHS was not able to see more than 746, and I found the Intel RST.

Another grouo used the Seagate Disk Wizard to see the full 3tb, but that tool does not work on WHS.....I am not sure I want to upgrade to 2011 right now.

  • Since WHS v.1 does not support dynamic disks, there is no way around.
