Windows Home Server 2011 Remote Web Access: new fixed public IP address RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've changed my ISP and now have a new fixed public IP address. What do I need to change in Windows Home Server 2011 to make it accessible again via Remote Web Access?

  • Assuming that you have a Microsoft Live Domain (xxx.homeserver.com) address this will automatically being updated to reflect your new IP address. You can force this by opening the Dashboard, going to the Server Settings tab and there to the Remote Web Access tab. It will show Updating and after a while Available if all is well.

You probably have got a new router now and maybe that UPNP port forwarding is not supported. Then you will need to manually forward ports 80 and 443 to your server. Also check that your new ISP doesn't block these ports on their network.
