Using Live Mesh For Remote Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I found out about Live Mesh through a PC World article.  It was talking about being able to invite people to Live Mesh, share files and even remotely access desktops.  I installed the software on my system and added my system to my mesh.  I created a share folder in which I invited a friend to join.  From time to time, I help my friend out with PC issues.  I've used LogMeIn in the past and was hoping to use Live Mesh instead since it offers the option to transfer files between systems.  I have not been able to see how I can add his system to my mesh through the invite.  I want to be able to have him click on a link that will install Live Mesh on his system and allow me to be able to see his system in my mesh.  Is this possible?  I've searched the forum and have not come across anything concrete.  There was one referencing that the person would have to be logged into the Live Mesh system on the remote system to be able to add it to the mesh, but I don't want to give out my username or password to my friend to add his system to my mesh.  If Live Mesh could do this, it would work out great since he lives on the opposite coast.

  • The only way for you to do this at this time is to have your friend's PC be a part of your Mesh, not another Mesh user invited to your Mesh to share a folder or folders. That means that the Live Mesh client on his PC needs to login with your LiveID - which I do not recommend.

What you desire is something that has been asked for before, though.
