So like many, I also plan on using WHS as a print server. I currently use an HP Color Laserjet 2550L (parallel & USB model) printer. HP does in fact have MS Server 2003 specific drivers, which I installed. WHS had to add DOT4 support since this is a USB printer, then the driver install. Test print locally on the server is fine..... and thats where the issues arise.
I goto either of my clients, one being Vista Ultimate (desktop) the other Vista Home Premium (laptop) and delete the local and shared printers that curently exist. Then I go to add a network printer, at which point it does not discover the HP. I then goto add the share name both manually and by dialog (it finds the WHS box and the shared printer BTW) and starts to connect but then gives me a message:
Windows cannot connect to the printer. The specified print monitor is unknown.
Keep in mind I have disabled the firewalling on the local machine I am adding the printer share to. Perhaps I'm just tired right now and overlooking something painfully simple? Anyone?
