Windows XP Activation fail RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys, I have owned a retail copy of XP since just after it camer out and have re activated it a few times due to hardware upgrades.

I have now bought Windows 7 and installed that onto my pc, I installed the XP onto my wifes pc but am unable to activate it via the website or by phone, the phone message just points me to www.microsoft.com/genuine.

I have attached the MGA report.

Could someone please advise me on how I can set a new baseline for XP and activate this pc.

    Many thanks  Rob.

  • Hi Carey, thankyou for you reply.

Unfortunatly I have tried to activate via the internet , that failed so i tried by phone and that also failed. I then found a post on here that says to not input anything when prompted to force an operator. The operator tried for me twice but said it was coming up as blocked and gave me the technical department number of 0844***2400 and told me to contact them.

I spoke to a guy there that went through all the licensing requirements, took my cd key and made me explain what the windows disc looked like. He seemed happy that all was genuine and asked me to re install, I asked what if that doesnt work?......he said go through the same process to activate as normal but it should work.

I have re installed again but this time not installing any service packs etc....still the same error.

Can I not prove to someone my cd and key are genuine and get this activated?, I am really starting to loose my cool with being pushed from department to department and being blocked by Microsoft from legally using my legal copy of windows .

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks  Rob.

  • Hello IzaKamakazi,

You have contacted the correct Microsoft department in the UK that handles such matters, as described on this web page:  http://www.microsoft.com/uk/licensing/homeuser/is-your-software-legit.mspx

Perhaps you could contact the people at the email address on this web page http://www.microsoft.com/uk/licensing/homeuser/product-identification-service.mspx to see if it would be a good idea to submit your materials for evaluation.
