Problems with Wifi direct between Windows and Android RRS feed

  • We want to establish a connection via Wifi Direct between a Windows service and an app for Android. It's a hard job because documentation is thin and even the example from Microsoft doesn't work stable.

    Our main questions are:
    - why does it take more than 
    30 seconds until the connection is established succesful? This is the same with the example from Microsoft together with an Android device.
    - why does the f
    unktion „fromIdAsync“ fail so often? It may take up to 50 tries until it works and we can't find out why or how to change that. Our call looks like that:

                 logger.Debug("fromIDAsync " + _pairdevice.DeviceInfo.Id);

                 var device = WiFiDirectDevice.FromIdAsync(_pairdevice.DeviceInfo.Id);

                 device.Completed = FromIdAsyncCompleted;

    This is where we get the callback:

    private void FromIdAsyncCompleted(IAsyncOperation<WiFiDirectDevice> asyncInfo, AsyncStatus asyncStatus)

            {

                WiFiDirectDevice wfdDevice = asyncInfo.GetResults();

                if (asyncStatus.Equals(AsyncStatus.Error)) {

                    logger.Debug("fromIdAsync completed with error!");

            }

    We only get "error" as status and we are happy for every hint.
