Unable to Change Project Start Date in Project Server 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

I have created new EPT in Project Server 2013. After that, when i am creating any new project in PWA 2013 by using newly created EPT, then i am not able to change Date as per my requirement.

Basically, EPT created on 02/18/2015 & even though i am changing Project start date then its again showing same date (02/18/2015)

Kindly suggest what i can do.

  • Dear All,

I got solution as whenever creating new EPT, all task should be Auto mode in Project Pro. If we have task in Manual mode in Project Pro then we will face such challenges.

  • Hello,

Does this new EPT have a project plan template associated? What happens if you set the EPT not to have a plan template then create a new project from this EPT? Does that let you update the start date? The start date should default to today (date the project plan was created). If that works as expected, add the plan template back to the EPT (if you had one to start with) and test creating another project to see if that then works or you then get the same behaviour. This will point us to the cause hopefully. Do other EPTs work as expected?

  • Dear Paul,

Today itself, i have created 5 new EPT associated with project plan template. For rest 4 EPT, all are working properly. I agree that when creating new project then start date in Project Details page takes by default today's date  but when changing it, then it is not reflecting that date (which we want).

  • So for the EPT that is not working as expected, remove the plan template and create a new test project, can you move the start date then?

  • OK, so what is different with this plan template and the other plan templates you are successfully using on the other EPTs? Can you create a test plan template, associated it with the EPT and test again?

  • I created test plan & then linked to EPT. But again same issue as i cant change date whereas if EPT is without any plan template then changes are happening.

Is that i am missing some process?

  • Does this issue have anything to do with the fact that the "Default" EPT cannot have a project plan template associated with it? Reading through the thread here creating new EPTs with Project Plan Templates associated with them it is possible to edit the Start Date but the pre-existing EPT cannot have its start date changed.

  • Hello ,

i have faced the same where i can not change the start date in Project information PDP as it keeps the current date and ignore my changes (setting new start date in the past) , while i can change the project start date in Project Professional without any problem and it reflects correctly in PWA , i have also tried to create a new EPT without any project plan associated and still facing this issue while there is not project plan associated with the EPT

still can not change project start date in PWA while i can change it Project Professional.

    any ideas

    Thank you

  • Hi Vrij007, is your template scheduling from the FINISH date, rather than the start?
