  • Question

  • I was on my laptop using remote desktop to get on my other computer and the annoying windows update thing kept comping up, so I finally clicked it. I'm guessing the because I was using remote desktop, I failed the validation test thing, and now I can't use windows media player, but it still lets me get updates. I know this is a VALID copy of windows, and everything worked fine before that remote dekstop thing....how do I fix this?

What type of error message are you receiving from Windows Media Player?

and what does the validation failure error report state?

Please run the diagnostic tool here at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ (not remotely)

and click on Validate Windows and see what happens.

  • Murry,

Please provide us with the MGA Diag results Lori requested. This is the first step so we may analyze what is actually happening. Using remote desktop will not have an affect if your Windows is genuine or not. I use the remote desktop feature myself and have not ever experienced any problems as you describe. More than likely Windows is non-genuine but we can't tell till you run the MGA and provide us with the results here. Next we will do our utmost best and provide you with some help for becoming genuine.

    Take care Murry,
