I just thought I'd find out how you all managed your music collections. The way that I do it is as follows:
- Music files are stored in Music share on WHS
- On one of the client pcs I have Windows Media Player which holds the library files and manages the files / folders
- The client's Media Player is what I use when I rip one of my CDs, search for an album etc
- I don't use Media Library Sharing within WHS as I can't understand how the files would be sorted, renamed etc
- When I want to play on a different pc, I just navigate through the Music Share and just play the files in that client's media player - these pcs are set not to rearrange music files. (not the most elegant solution but it works)
Does anyone have a different approach? Is anyone using Media Library Sharing for Music files?
Hello,
I store my music files in the Music shared folder on WHS
I hear music on 2 distant devices : PC and NMT :
-(1)- On each of my PCs, I installed J river Media Jukebox (free) soft
Media JukeboxIt works perfectly with music stored on WHS
Good music cover management
Good decoding of all music formats
-(2)- On my WHS, I installed MyIhome server (free http streaming media server for Networked Media Tanks)
MyIhomeFrom my 2 NMT (HD Digitech HDX-900), I can hear music in streaming mode from WHS through MyIhome server
Note :
I unvalidate Windows Media connect service on WHS because too heavy in memory and totally unuseful for me
My 2 cents;)
