Product Key Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently bought an hp laptop. When I opened Microsoft word 07, it says I need to enter a product key, then says I have limited trials of it unless I enter the key. Microsoft word was already pre-installed on my computer. When I entered my product key ( on the bottom of my laptop), it says that it is invalid. Does anyone have a solution for my problem? I ran a diagnostic report (i dont know if it helps) but, here it is:

You need to BUY a license for Word - it probably came as part of a Trial for
    Office with your PC.

The Product Key you have been entering (from the machine's case?) is almost
certainly that for Windows (clue:- it says Windows 7 on it!).

  • Hello Playing Legit,

Yup, you have a Trial.  Office status of 102 means an activated Trial:

Quite often local retailers run sales on Office Home and Student 2007 at sale prices that are much better than the "standard" Microsoft online price of $149.  If you can buy a retail package of Office H&S 2007 for a good price locally, you can use the product key in the retail package to convert and activate your installed trial to a perpetually licensed copy of Office H&S 2007.  Bonus:  the retail license for Office H&S 2007 allows you to install, activate and enjoy Office H&S 2007 on up to three computers in the same household when such licenses for the product are used for noncommerical purposes.

  • The product key affixed to your HP computer is for Windows 7, the operating system.  Apparently, you have a trial version of Microsoft Office installed.  In order to activated your installed copy of Microsoft Office, you'll need to purchase a Microsoft Office product key.  For assistance, please see: How to purchase a product key for Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007
