il live mesh services down? RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi,
i'm trying to install mesh in a windows 7 64 bit and xp 32, both with italian keyboard.
after the client update the xp client continue to say indefinitely "live mesh is starting", and if i try to install it in windows 64, the installation ends saying that live mesh service is unavailable, and to try later.
these problems are due to some problems to live mesh service?

    best regards,

  • I seem to recall reading earlier today a post by Ben regarding incompatibilities with other locales. Try setting your locale to EN and see what happens.

If that doesn't work - post back here and we'll see what else pops up.

  • hi,
in the windows xp computer changing locale to EN solved: seems that even in this new release there are problems with italian locale, and in the win7 machine i have the same behavior even with english locale.

  • Hi Luca,

We're working to resolve the bug with Italian language versions of Live Mesh as quickly as we can.  In the meantime, I'm glad you were able to get Live Mesh to work on your XP machine.  I'm not sure why changing the locale to EN didn't work in Windows 7, though.  You may want to file a bug for us on that one (instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums).

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • about the win 7 installation i don't know : some days ago i installed the previous version and installation completed, and i have the aero problem.
about the windows xp installation i'm seeing a strange ( or not so strange thing ):
    1. start the computer with italian locale.
    2. switch to english locale
    3. restart live mesh, and it starts.
    4. reswitch to italian locale.
    5. the system works in italian and live mesh seems to work.

i'have done this test some minutes and so far seems to work fine.

  • i don't know if this make sense to you. after mesh was working i tried to connect to the xp laptop
    1. trying to connect from windows 7, when the browser plugin try to start it crash, and after ì'm not able to launch it anymore.
    2. trying to connect from a 2008 server works fine, and i was able to control the pc.
    3. after the test finished, i come back to the laptop and because the user was disconnected i tried to reinsert password, and i'm not able to login in the pc-
    4. restart the computer and i'm able to logon in the pc.
    5. if i try to change the user or reinsert the password when for whatever reason login screen appear again it fails.
    6. using system restore with the latest save, i presume before i was able to activate live mesh solved the problem and now i'm able to login always.

i hope this may be useful

    Hi Luca,

That actually sounds like a pretty nasty bug.  If you wouldn't mind, could you please submit it through Connect and attach the logs from both computers (the Windows 7 and XP computers)?  I've seen one with similar symptoms (on Windows 7), but the more data we get, the better.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • done, i added only the windows xp log because in win7 block the setup and i don't where to find logs: if you can tell me where to look i can send the logs for win7.
this is the url of the feedback (hoping the file upload is fast)
    https://connect.microsoft.com/windows7/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=398723

just a couple more details on win7:
    1. when the mesh browser plugin crushed, aero disabled, but i was able to reenable it.
    2. the installation of live mesh have the same problem even saving the file and running it with the troblueshoot compatibility as a program that works with Vista.
