moving large data from 1 draw to the next RRS feed

  • Hi all
    I am moving 5 gig of data from draw A to draw B, both A and B are shares i set up in the console. my problem is that it takes hrs to do this, yes it works but its dam slow, is there a way i can edit a table to make whs think my files are in the new location ?
    Yes you can not do thsi with windows but the fact that WHS use's this odd filling system i was thinking it may just be possible.

  • No. As far as Windows is concerned, the shares you're working with could be on different file systems, so it copies from the source, down to the local PC, and back up to the target. This is standard Windows functionality.

    An (unsupported) workaround is to log in to your server directly, using Remote Desktop or physical keyboard, video, and mouse, and copy from share to share using the link on the server's desktop. This will avoid the round trip on your network. You should not copy from or to D:\Shares\etc. on your server, however.
