Unable to contact compute node RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I'm trying the HPC pack 2008 beta2.

I have configured the head node (with a Windows Server 2008 RTM),

then I have installed the HPC pack in a Windows Vista Business 64bit with no problems.

I have written the xml to add the compute node and I've added it... but it fails during the provisoning with this errors:

Could not contact node 'OPENPC' to perform change. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 131.xxx.xxx.239:6729
Could not contact node 'OPENPC' to perform change. All resolved addresses failed.

    (I have censored the ip)

I already checked in the compute note (OpenPC) with netstat that the port 6729 is closed and I don't know what service should use it and how to enable that (unknown for me) service.

How can I resolve the problem?

    Thanks,

    Marco

  • Found the problem:

a compute node must be a Windows Server 2008 64bit.

In fact, when I've installed the HPC pack in Windows Vista, the installer given me only one choice: "client node".

    Well, problem solved Big Smile
