How do I hide details with Report Wizard? RRS feed

  • Question

  • A very simple question about Dynamics CRM 2011 Report Wizard:

    How do I hide the individual "parts of sum" rows, when I want nothing but the sums to be displayed? I have tons of sales with four salesmen and three months, I want the sum of each salesman from each month plus the sums of each salesman and the grand total of all sales i.e. (3+1)*4+1=17 rows. I get that in the report, but it also displays every single sale there => The report is like 70 pages long.

    I guess you could also describe this as "drill up one level".

  • I believe that you cannot do this with the Report Wizard. It insists on having at least one column in the report which means a row for every record that makes up any totals.

    You wil probably need to do the repport in Reporting Services.

  • Hi

    As Feridun states, you can't do this within the report wizard. However, if you download the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Report Builder 3.0 you can open your rdl file then amend the visibility of your rows/tables so that you just see the grouping totals. Here's a similar example where I created a system job report. Obviously, I didn't want hundreds of pages of system jobs to appear so I set the rows to be invisible and just had the totals on the first page;

    This sounds good, I'm sure the program will be useful!

    I tried to mark your answer as an answer, but it gave me some "unexpected error".

    edit. Now it worked.
