  • Download and install the following:

    1. Intel INF Update Driver
    2. TouchPad Driver

Afterward, restart your PC twice and then run and post a new MGA Report.

  • This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Storage Matrix Technology drivers -

    Installing the Intel Drivers

try downloading and installing them from here -

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=17882

    (IATA89ENU.exe)

Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

  • I suggest you type slui 3 in Search to open activation wizard. Then type in the Windows 7 Home Premium 25-character product key that is printed on the COA label affixed to your PC (look on the bottom for it).

  • Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

    NET STOP CRYPTSVC
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
    NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report and post the results.

Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

  • In that case, back to basic troubleshooting..

Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right-click on the Command Prompt entry

Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

     CHKDSK C: /R

    and hit the Enter key.

You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at the next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.

The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size  of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally  (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC.

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions

Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories

Right-click on the Command Prompt entry

Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.

    At the Command prompt, type

    SFC /SCANNOW

    and hit the Enter key

Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

Upload the CBS.log file (compressed, please!) to your OneDrive or DropBox Public folder, and post a link - also post a new MGADiag report.

I havent done the scans yet but where is the CBS log located and how do i compress it?

I just noticed my trackpad has stopped working, i went to device manager and this is the error i am getting.

Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

    Tuesday, July 29, 2014 1:28 PM
  • The file is in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder

right-click on the file and COPY it to the desktop (do not use Send to..) then go back to the Desktop, and right-click on the file there, select 'Send to... > Compressed File' and then upload the file to your selected fileshare service.

Carey's driver update seems to have caused a problem - I suggest that you use the option to roll back the drivers, if it's available

You also have other corruption best dealt with by running another tool.

Please download and save  the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.

The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file  - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your OneDrive Public folder so I can take a look - post a link in your reply.

I'll post a fix protocol for the file errors above when I can.

  • I tried to run the tool but it gave me the error message 0xc8000247.

  • Not unexpected - we'll have to fix the file corruption first, then.

    Back after work.

  • I've uploaded a file - rr2aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive

    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...

Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'

    Pick that

You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt

    At the prompt type

    DIR C:\rr2aa

hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try

    DIR D:\rr2aa

    or

    DIR E:\rr2aa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

    XCOPY <drive>:\rr2aa  <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

    (e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type

    EXIT

and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt

then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your dropbox and post a new link.

It looks to me as if you've been using some kind of 'registry cleaner' - perhaps Wise, or Advanced System Care??

If that's the case, then please uninstall it so that it can't do any more damage.

  • thanks a lot for your help,

just one question i dont understand what you mean when you say

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\rr2aa  <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h. My OS is installed in my C drive. In your example would I just put C instead of P also where is the wfire from?

sorry about the questions I just want to do it correctly and yes I was using wise registry cleaner I have unistalled it now.

this is related to my issue with the trackpad I am able to make it work by disabling the driver signature enforcement in the advanced boot options. is there a way to make this permanent as currently I need to do it everytime I start my computer. Or is there a better solution to my trackpad issue?

  • NO! - just because your OS is apparently on the C: drive (like 99% of peoples) in normal Windows does NOT mean it will be on the C: drive in the repair environment. There is a good chance it will be on the D: drive, or even the E: drive (and sometimes even higher drive letters)

Please follow the instructions as written - it should become clear then.

As far as your trackpad problems are concerned I can't see anything related to that issue in the above errors - but when we get CheckSUR to run, it may have something related. (and it's always possible that fixing these issues will fix the problem anyhow.

  • In that case, you'll need to download the ISO file and create a DVD for Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 Refresh - from the links here...

    http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft

Once you have it downloaded, you then need to burn the DVD from it - use either the Windows Disk Image Burner, or (better still) your favourite burning application at the slowest speed possible.

Note that you do NOT 'drag and drop' the file to the disk, you must use the 'burn an image' option from your app - or you'll end up with a useless coaster :)

  • Looks like MS have changed the links again :(

Give it a couple of days, and with any luck the site will have updated the links, and you can try again.
