I'm told that my Windows is not genuine when trying to download office 2007 update RRS feed

  • Question

  • When trying to get updates for my genuine Office 2007 that I got using the Home Use program I’m told that the Windows version key I’m using has been blocked by Microsoft.

When doing a check only on my windows I come out good and clear.

My window XP version is legal and passes the genuine tests

It only fails those tests when running the test via the office validation

Can anyone help me with it?

I'm adding the MGADiag resaults maybe this will help

Thank you for validating your copy of Microsoft Windows.

Thank you for using the Windows Genuine Advantage program. You may now access resources for genuine Windows users.

and this is what i get when validating my office

This computer has failed validation. Expand for details.

    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

The product(s) listed above completed validation. However, as a result of the failed or incomplete validation(s) listed below, this computer is not eligible for the benefits of genuine Office. Remove the application(s) that failed or could not complete validation and run the validation tool again.

  • I did a search on Microsoft  using the validation error I have received

In most cases I see the error coming from people upgrading the bought version or have found them self in the same problem I had of a retailer cheating me

    Just as additional information

My Microsoft Windows XP was bought using the windows genuine advantage program after i found that my retailer cheated me

The Office was bought using our corporate Home use program

Because I wanted to upgrade and suspected that the Office version I got from the same retailer was also illegal

I am sorry to hear about the problem your currently experiencing. Either MS Office Suites and/or the operating system can be valid for months or a couple years. In turn companies and Microsoft find keys that have been compromised.  In turn they are blocked. I can see right away what the issue is with Office and why it is not passing validation.  Unfortunately, the product key used to install Office Professional Edition is a Volume License Key (VLK) that has been blocked per the request of the legal VLK holder.  As a rule, VL editions of either an Operating System and/or Office should not be sold to individual consumers. Businesses, schools and governments normally use VL editions for flexibility in installing many computers. Also, Volume Licenses for Windows XP and version of MS Office are Upgrade licenses ONLY and cannot be used as the original or base license for a new computer.
This is why you were seeing the "Software Counterfeiting" messages on your computer, because the current installation of Office XP Pro is an unauthorized installation. You will need to uninstall Office before any further problems occur.

As a customer there are options available to you for a resolution.  First, if this comes as a total surprise to you, please go back to where you purchased Office and let them know it is a counterfeit copy and demand they immediately reimburse you and/or provide a Genuine Copy which was originally paid for. Print a copy of the diagnostic report so you may show them proof for the 114 Blocked VLK statuses.  In any case, please uninstall the non-genuine installation of Office to alleviate any complications which may arise from the non-genuine status of your Office.  Second, if you purchased this copy of Office from a reseller or retailer, you are a victim and should report this piracy to Microsoft. Microsoft legal will follow up on all leads provided. Reporting piracy to Microsoft will help alleviate others in becoming victims such as yourself. You may be eligible for a complimentary replacement copy if you were sold a high quality counterfeit copy of Office.  For details on the ways to “Get Genuine”, see the web page that outlined your validation failure details or http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/. It will provide all of the possible steps which you can take.
Good news your Windows installation did pass validation and is genuine, so that's great news. Again I am sorry to hear about your situation. In turn I hope the information will help you with getting a resolution. Please don't hesitate re-posting if you need further assistance.

The problem is that the office I installed was bought directly from Microsoft

I have bought my office using the Home use program in my office

I checked with my company IT manager and he said the program was not stopped

I got the CD directly from Microsoft order number 01130013827427 made on the 29/3/07

    Part number76j-00008

I got my CD a day before I posted this

This is why I don't understand how it is possible that my license is not a legal one

    What do I do now?

  • Hi All

I finely figured out the problem

When I installed the new office 2007 I told it to upgrade the existing office I had on my computer

Assuming that it will uninstall or replace my existing XP office that like I said before I was sure that my retailer gave me a non legal version

When rubbing again the Microsoft genuine product validation for office this time I got that is was my XP version that was illegal like I thought

I uninstalled it and now I pass the validation tests

    Thanks for your help

  • Amiw,

Great!  Thank you for the feedback.  Your right if the previous version was non-genuine then upgrading that version would have not passed validation. Also you can submit a piracy report of the company where you purchased the older version of Office.

    Thank you
