Migration from 4.0 to 4.6.2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have recently migrated our existing website from 4.0  to 4.6.2, After publishing the website we can see the change is only to web.config file with the version as 4.6.2

Do we really need to move entire code or just replacing web.config alone in the existing server will be enough?

  • Hi Vivekgvivi1986,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

If you created your app using an earlier version of the .NET Framework, you can generally upgrade it to the .NET Framework 4.5 and its point releases (4.5.1 and 4.5.2), the .NET Framework  4.6 and its point releases (4.6.1 and 4.6.2), or the .NET Framework 4.7 easily. Open your project in Visual Studio. If your project was created in an earlier version, the Project Compatibility dialog box automatically opens. For more information about upgrading a project in Visual Studio.

Please see Port, Migrate, and Upgrade Visual Studio Projects and Visual Studio 2017 Platform Targeting and Compatibility.

In addition, this forum is about .NET Framework setup and servicing, as your question is much related to website migration, you could also post in forum for a much professional support.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

    Best Regards,
