How do I know if I have an x64 base windows xp? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm thinking about using Windows OneCare.  I heard that it may not run on x64 base windows xp.  How do I know what I have?

Also, I want to monitor 3 computers, my 2 kids from my computer.  Is this a software you would recommend?  I'm looking to be able to protect their computers from viruses, spyware, etc and also keep them safe from inappropriate sites?

    Thanks,

  • Right click on My Computer and select Properties, or open Control Panel, and click System. If it is 64 bit XP, it will tell you there, but I would suspect that it is 32 bit or x86.

OneCare will allow you to make sure that the firewall and antivirus are functioning and up to date on the other 2 computers with the Circle feature - Multi PC Management, but OneCare does not provide web site blocking as in Parental Controls. You may wish to look at Windows Live Family Safety in addition to a subscription to Windows Live OneCare.
