  • When I try to validate my version of Microsoft Teacher and Student 2007 I get the following error message: ActiveX Error.

    Whe I run the diagnostic tool I get:

     

    failed    Windows Validation ActiveX Loaded

    failed    Office Validation ActiveX Loaded

    failed    Validation Self Help ActiveX Loaded

     

    What can I do to correct this?

    Are you having complications loading the Active X control? I would like to provide the following information and steps for you to follow to attempt resolving this issue.

    Step 1: OGA Manual ActiveX Installation

     

    1.      Click the Start button, then click “Run”

    2.      Type in “iexplore http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=58813” then click ‘OK’. You will be prompted to download “OGAControl.cab”.

    3.      Choose Open. Once this completes, a window will open showing two files, OGACheckControl.dll and OGAControl.inf. Leave this window open for now.

    4.      Click the Start button, then click “Run”

    5.      Type in “system32”, then click ‘OK’. (If you are running Windows XP, you may need to click “show files” to allow access to this system directory.)

    6.      Drag the OGACheckControl.dll file from the window that was open into the system32 directory. If you are prompted to overwrite a file, choose ‘Yes’ to overwrite any existing file. (If you are running Vista, you may be prompted to provide administrator permission to complete the action. If so, press “Continue” and allow it.)

    7.      Click the Start button, then click “Run”

    8.      Type “regsvr32 OGACheckControl.dll”, and then click ‘OK’.

    9.      You should see a dialog saying “DllRegisterServer in OGACheckControl.dll succeeded.”

     

    After you finish the above steps please restart the computer and try to validate Office again.

    Should you have additional problems please review the knowledge base (KB) article “How to troubleshoot problems that you may experience when you try to activate an Office product” located @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us  and “How to troubleshoot problems that you may experience when you try to activate a 2007 Office product” located @:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895.  Please look @ Method 2: If the Opa11.dat file or the Data.dat file is corrupted and make the changes applicable for your version of Office.

     

                Restart the computer and contact the Microsoft Activation Center to re-activate Office should there be problems should you need assistance. The Office Activation Center can be reached at (888) 652-2342 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Pacific Time.
