I bought a new laptop about a few weeks ago and still everytime I enter the product key it says that it's invalid, but I know that it's correct. What do I do? What is the problem with it? Do i need to get a new one? Please help.

Mur,
You are not experiencing any problems with Vista as the operating system. The product key you are trying to install is used for Vista operating system and not for Microsoft Office. What you are experiencing is related to a trial version of Microsoft Office which some manufacturers install. Should you like Office then you can visit Microsoft Marketplace and make a purchase. Hopefully this helps with why you are experiencing the problem.
Take care,
Stephen :-)

Hi Mur52691,
Your Diagnostic Report shows that your Vista is Genuine and I don't see any other error codes.
Why are you attempting to enter a product key? Is Vista asking you to enter the product key or are you seeing some other error that suggests that you need to enter the product key?
Please Note: Unlike Windows XP, when you buy a computer that comes with Vista Pre-installed, the computer has a product key, is activated and ready to use, right out of the box. So if Vista is Not asking you for a product key, you do not have to enter one.
Thank you,
Darin MS

Well when I first opened Microsoft Word it asked me told me to enter the product within a certain number of days, until I would be unable to use the features in the program. After those days passed I tried to open Microsoft Word and it is still asking me to enter the product key and when I do it tells me that the code is invalid. So at the moment I am unable to fully use Microsoft word (meaning I cannot use any feature and am only able to type on it which is purposeless because I cannot even save). I don't understand why it isn't working. What should I do? I bought my laptop at cirtcut city they were having a closing sale, so I don't think I would be able to go back to that specific circut city to ask for assistance.Monday, January 19, 2009 10:39 PM
