  • Trying to download Windows Virtual PC and getting failed validation as part of that process.   I just built this PC a few weeks ago and the windows software was purchased from a large reputable computer retailer.   Report output below.  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

  • This is my close out post.

Not sure what happened but I tried to do the download again.  When it got to the validate stage it said it need to download the validation program so I clicked ok.    After that it validated and I was able to download the Virtual PC program.

What's more another program I was having difficulting installed (a Dell printer driver) that's been refusing to install also just installed without a hitch.

Again not sure what happened but it's all working for the moment.  This is good news but given that I don't know what caused it and if it will reoccur I am a little apprehensive.

    Time will tell.

Thanks to to everyone for they're input and suggestions, most appreciated.

  • Try the Genuine Microsoft Software – Diagnostic Site, click on Validate Windows, then restart your computer.

  • Tried the diagnostic site you mentioned and everything seemed to pass ...

          Genuine Microsoft Software Diagnostic Results

          Passed Active scripting allowed

          Passed Display images enabled

Passed Computer time and date correct

          Passed Cookies enabled

          Passed ActiveX enabled

Rebooted and tried to download virtual pc and got the same validation failed message.

  • I see your default browser is chrome. If you haven't tried it with windows explorer please try it. I have read reports that alternative browsers can cause this issue.

  • I had that thought as well.   Switched to testing this with IE some time ago.  Still getting the error.

  • Anyone have any ideas? I'm at the point of considering a reinstall of the OS.
