CRM4 and OCS "Enable presence" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am following these steps to create an user for OCS and CRM

STEPS TO ENABLE OCS USER PRESENCE IN CRM4
    1. create an user in AD
    2. create an email in exchange for that user
    3. create that user in crm
    4. enable that user to use ocs in ocs server
    5. join their pc into AD domain
    6. install outlook in user pc
    7. install crm for outlook in user pc
    8. install ocs client (communicator) in user pc

My boss asking several questions to me
    QUESTIONS:
    1. I create an user for my colleague by following from step1-7 but I didn't put his a/c in my contact.
Can I still see his presence?
    2. I want to create my customer account into crm. And I want to see their presence in my crm.
In this situation my customer pc didn't join my AD domain, didn't have my company email, didn't install CRM for outlook. I only create 1 ocs a/c for each customer.
Can I still see their presence in CRM.
    3. I want to tied a recorded chat into a case.
    Can I follow this link

Note: OCS is Office Communication Server 2007

  • I try to answer myself
    1. Few areas which user can see other user presence are through:
    -Settings-Users
    -Contacts
    -Accounts

    2. To simulate above scenario, I set a pc but not joining AD domain. I only use local a/c.
I login as user cust1. This cust1 user must don't have a/c in crm but only in ocs
, but I still need to create cust1 a/c in exchange because crm detect user presence using their email. If an user want to have exhange a/c they also need AD a/c exist.
Why I need exhange is because I have to use CRM for Outlook and CRM for Outlook need Exchange to show their presence in CRM
Result: I can see cust1 presence even if cust1 a/c didn't exist in crm

    3. haven't try myself
