CRM 2011 without Exchange Server

Question
-
Hi,
My organization does not have a Microsoft Exchange server. Can we install CRM 2011 without Exchange server?
Also, as per my knowledge, without a mail server, CRM product won't be able to send/receive any email messages. We would definitely need Email router for CRM 2011 to send/receive messages. Can you please confirm this?
Thanks
Ajay

Hi Ajay,
You don't need to have an Exchange server for CRM 2011 to work. The email router will work with POP3/SMTP servers, but you can also use the Outlook client for email integration, which doesn't require the router at all.
