  • In an effort to repair I inserted my windows 7 disk and chose upgrade.  I entered the product key from the download version (can not find the other product key).  Now it says it is not genuine, two hours ago it and for the last year it has been genuine.  I have searced high and low for the box o

    I suspect that you've done a clean/custom install of the system, rather than an upgrade install - what's the content of the c:\program files\ folder look like?
    Do you have a C:\Windows.Old folder?
    The fact that the grace time is expired would indicate that the reinstall was over 30 days ago, if this was a clean install - or possibly 3 days if a proper upgrade install (not sure about the exact number for an upgrade).

    To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
    Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
    To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
