windows update not running

Hi,
I'm having problems unstalling update items. I have run a repair of windows XP (for a Dell laptop) as teh CD drive was not beign recognized by windows (still doesn;t see eh drie as recordable device but other software copes OK - Nero & SonicNow) and de-installed then re-install Office 2003 (Windows install cleanup). I have then updated Office from the website. The following items cannot install:
