Windows 7 RTM,McAfee total protection and Windows Home Server backup issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I searched  on the forum but didnt seem to find this issue

I have two windows 7 x64 RTm version with  latest mcAfee Total Protection  beta running.

They also have the Microsoft Homeserver (WHS) Connector  Running. A major function of a  WHS is the automatic backup function.

This runs smootly on all my other pc's  except on the two   windows 7 x64  machines. (I have no  win7 x32 machines)

whenever I have  the mcafee software running the backup allways fails  on the WHS server with
the following Message :  Source: HomeServer, Category: Type: Error, Backup, Event Id: 267
    Description:
Client Backup server failed at d:\wssg_src\whs_v1se\qhs\backup\util\File.name (1205)

Where file.Name is different for every attempt.

Once i uninstall the McAfee Beta  the backup runs fine.

    Any idea's?

    Pieter

  • Do you have Power Pack 3 beta installed? If so, you can try again after uninstalling it. But this sounds like an issue with the McAfee software, to be honest.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • I tried it before runnin PowerPwck 3 and had simulair behaviour... so I do not expect much of it but will give it a go.

I have raised this in the mcafee beta forum as well but so far no response..

  • Ok I thought an update of the beta from mcAfee solved the issue, but  i still had the firewalls turned off ( both ms and mcafee)

turning the mcAfee killed the auto backup again...  So now trying it with the MS one on tonight

If that failes i will deinstall powerpack 3 and give it a go
