Adding contacts to quick campaigns RRS feed

  • Question

  • I suspect that what I want to do is not possible with quick campaigns but thought I should ask anyway (in case I am wrong :) )

I have a marketing list with 10 contacts called MyContacts.
I then create a quick campaign called JustAQuickie to send a letter out to those contacts in MyContacts (10 contacts).
I then add another 5 contacts to marketing list : MyContacts

I now want to add those 5 contacts to the Quick Campaign: JustAQuickie

I can't find anywhere I can do this - Am I right that this is not possible?  If I want to do this should I then use Standard Campaigns?

    Thanks

  • Hi Donna,

The problem with the second solution is that I would end up with heaps of Marketing lists - an undesirable outcome.

I essentially have a list that is growing continuously and I want to use this list for my monthly mail outs.  I was hoping that as I added people through the month I could have an activity created for the person who stuffs the envelopes to send them the current months newsletter, rather than waiting till the next month before we start to communicate with them.

I don't know how I would go about the first suggestion - but that would seem to be the only possible solution using campaigns only.

The solution I have come up with is to use workflows to create the 'current month' mail out activity for the new records.  Not as neat but I think it will have to do.  I will need a different workflow for each months mail out.  I will most likely create one and then edit the work flow each month.  But I think that is manageable.

Thanks to you both for your responses.

  • Hi,

Quick campaigns are really quick :). You can create one quick campaign with one activity, but you cannot add any marketing list after the campaign creation. So, generally, you could create another quick campaign or use regular campaigns if you want to add members to them later.

    I hope that helps,

  • Hi Kuba,

Just following up on this.  I have eventually got around to trying the same thing in campaigns (not quick campaigns).  And I still seem to have the same problem.

Whilst I can create a new activity for the mailing list, this will include all the contacts that I have already sent my letter to.

What I would really like is some way that I can 're-distribute' an activity so that all the new contacts in a marketing list have the activities created for them.

Any ideas on how this might be acheived are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • If you can identify the correct search criteria in Advanced Find that allows you to view all members of the Marketing List who do not have a related activity that was generated through the initial quick campaign, then you can select those Members and send them the campaign activity.  The challenge is identifying the filter criteria so it leaves only those users who have received the e-mail.  I think this is a a filtering issue on the Marketing List members rather than a 'quick' or 'standard' campaign issue.

It is easier to find all members who have the related activity and remove them from the list.  You can do this by first Creating a New Marketing List and then use the More Actions, Copy feature of the current Marketing List and copy all your members to the Newly created List.  Then select the Manage Members button of the orginal list and the option to Use Advanced Find to remove members.  Remove all members that have an associated activity that contains the subject line of the initial Campaign Activity that you sent.  Save your changes and now you have a list of people who did not receive the information.

  • I understand.. to prevent the growing list, you would need to deactivate the Marketing list where other members were removed and keep the copied Marketing List as the base.  Your solution sounds like it is working for you and it sounds like we don't have a better one at this time.

    You're welcome
