Is there a way that office communicator (more probably office communications server) can be set to use more than the GAL (Global Address List) ?

    Question

  •

I can create an address list in Exchange 2007 with the contact i require in.   What i cannot do is to get office communicator to pick from this addres list. it only seems to use the global address list.  Is there a way that office communicator (more probably office communications server) can be set to use more than the GAL?

Any information is appreciated, thanks for your help in advance!

  • OCS uses it's own address book, not the standard GAL that Exchange users.  It created by listing SIP-enabled and other objects with specific attributes stamped in the entire forest.

Take a look at the technical drilldown for more details on the process: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd572481(office.13).aspx
