files are not being uploaded

Question
-
When I open my 'live desktop' I can access all the folders but some of them are empty.
Upload is not in progress, it has never started, log on the right says that i joined the folder, no further action is mentioned contrary to other folders where i can see how many files, pictures etc. have been uploaded.
I havent found any option to force upload, I guess files should be send automatically after the folder is added but it doesn't happen sometimes. Computer has been restarted, i went offline and online, deleted and added folders again and some of them just tend not to work while others do very well.

Folders are not encrypted, there shouldn't be any programs running to interfere with these files. They dont even sync when i add a file using live desktop. Bug report submitted: https://connect.microsoft.com/LiveMesh/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=525233

I assume that you have checked the Sync settings for the folders involved to make sure that they are set to upload to the Live Desktop and that you have not exceeded the limits for storage on the Live Desktop.
What type of files are in the folders that are not synchronizing. On the PC or PCs, is there a News listing that identifies any conflict?
Are other folders still synchronizing?
Typically, when sync stops completely the solution is to remove the PC from the Mesh and reinstall the Live Mesh client software.

Thank your for your reply. Yes, all folders are set to upload when files are added or modified. I have 90% storage space left. News listing doesnt indentify any conflicts, actually it doesnt identify anything else but that the folder has been joined. Files in the folders that are not synchronizing are basically the same as those in folders that synchronize i.e. pdf files, word files, pictures etc. Most of the folders do sync but unless you have another solution i will remove the pc from the mesh and reinstall the software.Thursday, January 14, 2010 5:29 PM

Before you go through the exercise of reinstalling, can you confirm that the other folders are *still* synchronizing? That is, make a change on the PC and see if that change synchs on the Live Desktop - add, delete, or update a file in one of the folders that has synchronized.
And, how long have the other folders been idle? That is, when does News say that the folder was added to the Mesh? Has other synchronization for other fodlers occurred during the time since that entry?
I wonder if *all* synchronization has stalled or if there's a problem with those folders.

Yes other folders were still synchronizing. I reinstalled everything and it didnt solve the problem. There are still folders that do not sync, but most do (in the way you wanted me to check). Settings are always the same = default (synchronize when files are added or modified).Friday, January 15, 2010 4:57 PM

That seems rather strange. Are the folders that you see not uploading/synchronizing encrypted? Is there any program holding open the files within these folders for some reason?
You may want to go ahead and submit a bug report:
How to Submit Bugs and Live Mesh Logs
Note that you may not receive a response to the bug report, though. It will be transferred to the internal system to be assigned to the appropriate development group.

Thanks for submitting the bug report. It really seems odd that some folders sync and others do not. It is typically an all or nothing situation.
