SyncToy - Right Path with Brackets RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to run the following from the command line:

    SyncToy -d(left="F:\Path One\Path Two",right="C:\Local Path (Mobile)",name=DASync,operation=echo)

Both F:\Path One\Path Two\ and C:\Local Path (Mobile)\ exist and are accessible (Setting up manually works fine).

With the command line, I get the following message:

Failed to construct a valid folder pair from the string: (left=f:\Path One\Path Two,right=C:\Local Path (Mobile),name=DASync, operation=echo). Could not locate right folder C:\Local Path (Mobile\.

Note how it has replaced the closing bracket/parenthesis with a backslash.

Any suggestions? I really could do with keeping the brackets in situ.

    Thanks,

    Aubs

  • Hi, AubsUK:

I must say it's good question of this brackets, since there are no customers who put forward this kind of question. I have had some researches on this point and asked Dev for answers. As I know, SyncToy does not surport right brackets as folder name. So please avoid using right brackets in folder name, and if necessary, you can use "]" instead.

    Thanks,
    Danish

  • Except with x64 systems, the 32-bit Program Files is \Program Files (x86)

We cannot create a sync pair to anything in this folder.
