  • Your installation of Windows is using a Dell OEM_SLP Product Key- which is why you are directed to Dell for assistance.

This wopuld indicate that someone has used a set of Dell Recovery disks to install Windows on your PC, instead of using either the Acer recovery system or a System Builder disk.

Have you sent the machine in for repair anywhere?

The Key in use is for Vist Business - for what version and edition of Windows is the computer licensed, according to the COA Sticker? (do NOT post the Key!)

If it's for Vista Business, you should be able to use the COA Key to activate the system and get it genuine again - otherwise you are looking at either buying a new license, or a reformat/reinstall with your COA Key.

You should be able to get a set of Acer Recovery disks from Acer - or from www.restoredisks.com - for a price.

  • I try to log on and a pop up comes up saying that the product key I have typed is invalid for activation and it gives me 3 options. 1) Access your computer with reduced functionality, 2) Type a different product Key, 3) Contact Dell to help resolve this problem. My laptop is Acer and I can not even go to my start menu or even on my home screen for that matter. Can you help me, Please and Thank You!
