Problem with WHS Console - Repairing instalation and maintaining existing backups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a problem with my WHS Console.  Under settings I no longer have the Add-Ins section.  I have tried rebooting and that does not help.  Has anyone had this problem?  If so, what did you do?

I am thinking of reinstalling WHS.  I know that it will reindex all of my data from the shared folders.  But I do not know what it will do to the computer backsups.  Will they be saved or will I loose them?

Or is there a way to do a REPAIR to the installation?  If there is, will it leave my backups intact.

    Thanks in advance.

  • There is no system repair in Windows Home Server. There really can't be; the product is designed to be used "headless".

A server reinstallation for reasons other than a failed system drive shouldn't cause any data loss, however. That includes your backup database.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
