Validating microsoft office RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an issue. I have the 2003 version of Microsoft Office Professional with Publisher 2002. If I go to the windows update website, I already have all the latest updates and service packs installed. If I go to the office update website, validation fails only for office. I have photos that show everything if anyone wants to see them.

Can you try the following steps?  Please make sure you have your product key (for Office) available.

    1) Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
    2) Delete the data.dat file.
    3) This data.dat file is for Office (not OGA).
    4) Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word (or your own personal favorite) and ACTIVATE it.
    5) After product activation is successful, try revalidating (this is the OGA part; Office Genuine Advantage) by visiting:
    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine  and click "Validate Office"

Please let us know if this resolves the problem.

  • Sorry about the delay. I have been busy with school and finding a job. Then this website has network traffic so I couldn't post sooner today. Following your instructions, my issue was solved so I want to thank you for your time.
