Edge Server installations RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,
OCS server2007 R2 working fine,I can chat internally. Installation is completely single box.i.e. Archiving ,Monitoring , CA ,SQL server is on same machine. all are Virtual Machines.
    <<  It's a lab set up >>
    pool name : testpool.VJ.dev
    domain VJ.dev

I installed edge server once (No firewall no ISA) but don't understand how to check and to use functioanality... however validation failed saying
error in federation dns record etc etc....

Edge server machine is in same domain : VJ.dev machine name is : OCSEdge

So I again started installing ,but I am having few questions ...
    I have 4 networks on OCSEdge :
    internal      10.X.X.76
    av               10.X.X.81
    webConf     10.X.X.82
    accessEdge 10.X.X.83

1>while configuring edge server what are fields name to be given ?
for internal web farm fqdn and external (or any name will work ?)
2> How to import a certificate (from internal CA Server)and install so that to complete certification step ?
3 > How to know that Edge server is working properly ? How to test its functionality ?

I am not understanding the GUide given for Edge server deployement, its lengthy and complex ?
    Please help me out !!!

    thanks ..!!!

  • If you don't have any firewalls then you don't need to worry about opening the ports
A reverse proxy is required for (address book download, Distribution list expansion and meeting content)
If you don't have a reverse proxy then the 3 above will not work but you can do everything else

ISA server needs to be a separate machine it cannot be collocated on an OCS Server

  • Thanks Deli
    BUt ,
I used that tool to install, but it requires firewall (must) but as my machine is VM and don't have firewall. also it requires reverse proxy .
Whats that ? Is it needed ? if yes then how to configured it ? As I don't have ISA installed (Single box setup).
