Question

Alright, Hey there
i hope you are doing great !
here is the thing , im trying desperately to reactivate windows 7, under my newly built system
i knowldge that my copy has been activated 3 time before.
(so im guessing that why im having issue reactivating it)
1- my brother's system (he doesnt live with us)
2 - my wifes laptop
3 - my OLD desktop (i can't use it anymore after an overclocking that went wrong, i fried the motherboard or the bios i dont know)
anyway it was big time to head for an upgrade (oh well i had no choise isnt it !)
i had to reinstalled xp so i can install win 7, i followed the procedure (the way we are supposed to) :
control panel > system > online activation = Failed ! :-(
i googled the "issue" they all agreed about : go for it do it over the phone !
After the automated phone system, wait until a representative talk with you , explain your issue , and evrything should be fine :)
well i tried for the 4th time i called during the morning , aftrenoon, evening, night !
the automated phone system always fail, i wait, i wait , i wait indefinitely ...
- united state >> 1-888-725-1047
i enter all the digit 0 to 9
it ask me few question : how many time i installed it : 3
i get that we are soory the bla bla license bla bla bla .... then GO ON !
and i keep on waiting ! hoping i would talk to a human ! but nothing happen :-/
what m i supposed to do now !
here ! i read that i need to post that as well :)

Hello le_doc,
When you try the Phone Activation, this time don't enter anything into the phone prompt. Eventually, the phone prompt will offer to transfer to an Activation Rep but the phone prompt still wants to help you...Just say "Transfer me anyways". You will be put on hold (you'll hear hold music and such) and eventually the Activation rept will answer.
I just tested it and it does work. However, when I called, I had to wait about 7-8 mins on hold.
Hope that helps,

And thank you!
For some reason, I was not made aware of that alternative phone number. That is good information.

Your problem is you said "3" when asked how many computers this copy of Windows is installed upon. Unless you have some sort of volume license, you are only allowed to have that license activated on "1" computer. The question was not "how many times you have activated Windows?" nor was the question "How many different machines have you installed this copy of Windows on?"... it was "How many computers is *THIS* copy (i.e. Licence) of Windows installed?"
You can legally have the ONE license of Windows on ONE machine at a time.
Try to activate again, but this time when asked how many computers is this copy of Windows installed upon, answer "1" (unless, of course, that is not true, in which case you need to acquire a legal license to use.)
