  • Question

  • When selecting backup device there is nothing there. I tried to load a blank cd-r in my dvd/cd-r drive and it will not recognize the blank disc. When I put a disc with info on it cd/dvd the computer recognized it.

  • I assume that you are sure that this is a CD/DVD writer?

Do you have other burning software installed on the PC? If so, that software may be conflicting with OneCare ability to use the drive. If you are using Packet Writing Software, which would be software that "formats" the blank disk and allows you to write to it like any other removable drive - InCD by Nero or DirectCD by Roxio are two examples, then these must be uninstalled or your drive will be "held" or locked by these programs.

If the CD/DVD drive is not a burner, then it obviously won't work for backup.
