Customer Portal missing documentation howto setup IIS RRS feed

  • Question

  • I don't have experience with IIS but have been reading testing and reading after downloading and deploying the accelerator found at pinpoint.microsoft.com/en-us/applications/customer-portal-for-microsoft-dynamics-crm-2011-12884910826 and still have not been able to access the customer portal home page.

    Running CRM2011 u13 on Server2012 IIS8 and SQL2012.

I've successfully performed the websitecopy of the xml data to the CRM and the active customer portal website automatically appears in CRM2011>Content Management>Websites as well as in IIS8>Application Pools specified as .net v4 integrated.

The documentation for customer portal is incomplete and missing instructions for on-premise IIS setup and so I've been trying options as follow with no success:

In IIS I right click on Sites and add a website selecting the new customer portal application pool and specify the content directory path to the web folder that's been unzipped to C: from the pinpoint customer portal zip or cab file. The host name specified is customerportal.crm2011.local.

When attempting to browse customerportal.crm2011.local or customerportal.localhost from the crm2011 host Internet Explorer shows 'This page can't be displayed'.
Anyone with advice or suggestions? What am I doing wrong?

On a slightly different note: Also looks like Shan released a modified version a while ago for which the download link to the file no longer is available at this blog http://community.adxstudio.com/blogs/shan/customer-portal-modifications. If possible could someone please upload the file and share a link as I'd like to see any differences and test AD integration as blogged about here http://kellyhoang.blogspot.com/2013/01/crm-2011-on-premise-customer-portal.html?showComment=1371198394920#c3964015285107376504

    Thanks for any help

  • Your IIS settings look correct.  I noticed that the domain name in your IIS settings was customerportal.scrm2011.local, but the url you mentioned above was customerportal.crm2011.local (notice the s is missing in scrm2011).  That would mean that IIS wouldn't direct the request to your site.
