You will have to pay the full fee for a new retake. In the past, there have been several offers for a free or discounted retake, but in all cases you had to sign up for the offer BEFORE taking the initial exam.

I tend to prepare myself for the exams using the Microsoft Official Curriculum courseware, which is accessible to me as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. But this is probably not a viable option for you, since these are expensive materials, available only through a Certified Partner, and they are most useful only if you get a Trainer to teach them.
I have heard good things about the Self-Paced Training Kit:
but I haven't read it myself.

How much practical experience do you have with the technologies in the exam i.e. do you work with the technologies on a daily basis or have you just read books etc?

I have been a developer for 5 years. I have done many applications with .Net, I have read the book suggested by Alberto Poblacion, can you recommend me a good strategy for this 5 months?
I have also paid for the mock exam from measure up and now my strategy is now:
a) Do all the questions and open every reference on the Exam
b) Do an exercise for each question
Do you have another suggestion?

Take the list of "Skills Measured" from the exam description page. For each of the topics, ensure that you are knowledgeable about the corresponding subject. For instance, there is an entry titled "Tunneling vs. bubbling events, handling and cancelling events". Verify that you know what is meant by tunnelin and bubbling, and you know how to write the code for cancelling an event (and all the ways to handle the event). If necessary, search MSDN and read the documentation. You can also search the web for articles or tutorials if the documentation is not clear enough. After you have checked every entry in the Skills Measured list in the preceding way, you should be ready to take the exam.Wednesday, August 13, 2014 7:04 PM
