Vista Validates online, but doesn't seem to stick. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I activated Vista by phone, that worked fine. For some reaosn though I can't get vista to recognize that its validated, so I can't do all the updates. I've tried ie7 and firefox methods and both say my system is valid, but when I go to system properties it says its not validated, and there isn't a link there to validate like there should be. This makes no sense, and is extremely irritating. Anyone have a clue why it just won't recognize that it's been validated? Or why the link to validate wouldn't be in system properties?

  • Hi TicTaco,

That is very strange. Would you try following the below steps

Click the Start button, and type in "slui.exe 4" in the search field and then press the "Enter" key. This will bring up the Activate by Phone dialog window. Follow the steps provided by the window.

NOTE: The key to this process is that you need to talk to a Live Activation Rep! When you first call, you will be interacting with an Automated Voice, either select the option to talk to a Live Rep or if there is no option, do not enter any numbers. This should force the automated voice to tansfer you to a Live Rep.

If this does not resolve the issue, explain the problem to the Activation Rep. They should be able to provide additional assistance.

    Thank you,
